Angelina Lynne & the ‘Garden City Jazz Band’ to open Friday’s AAMF ‘International Jazz Concert’

Angelina Lynne is a classical, pop and jazz singer, with excellent technical and language skills. She has a great deal of experience in folk music from Spain, New Zealand and other countries. She is also an accomplished piano player.

Angelina will be joined on stage at 8 pm this Friday, 27th November, at the Hili Al Rayhaan Hotel byAngelina Lynne photo I the newly formed Garden City Jazz Band. They are performing the “International Jazz Evening“‘s opening set.

Angelina’s new band members are:-

Dan Turcanu, bass guitar-
Dan is trained in classical composition and he’s already very experienced in various styles of arrangements, such as jazz and Arabian, for diverse ensembles. He is the Director of the Al Ain Chamber Orchestra, (AACO).

Derek Jung, clarinet-
Derek is a music teacher at AAESS. He studied clarinet in the U.S. and is an enthusiastic performer of chamber music and modern pieces in the AACO. He aspires to develop skills as an arranger and a composer.

Robert Loxton, clarinet-
Robert is a university teacher at the Higher College of Technologies, (HCT). He’s a very enthusiastic performer, and passionate bass singer with various vocal groups.

Teodor Iliescu, bassoon-
One of the best bassoon player’s of his generation; he is also a skilled piano player; passionate baroque music singer; and a jazz and pop voice coach.

Terrie Parkman, piano-
Terrie is the main pianist and at the core of the AACO. She’s a very dedicated pianist and an educator with years of experience. Terrie is eager to extend her artistic creativity by approaching new styles and genres.

Ahmed Attalah Medji, percussion-
Ahmed is highly talented percussionist; a self-taught musician who combines the Arabic style of percussion with pop and jazz rhythm patterns; and,

Elke Vogel Adham, flute-
Elke is a computer and programming teacher at HCT. She’s a dedicated flute player and is passionate about jazz and classical music. She inspired the creation of the AACO. Elke is also a great supporter of the AAMF!

The final event of this year’s AAMF series is the “International Jazz Evening” on Friday, 27th November.

It will feature sets by the freshly home-grown ‘Garden City Jazz Band‘, led by Angelina Lynne and Dan Turcanu; the swinging ‘Swing Revue Band‘; and the cool ‘Desert Jazz Duo‘. The latter two bands are both coming down from Dubai for this concert.

The stage setting for this extremely promising first ever AAMF jazz event is poolside. That pool is on the Floor 1 level of the superb Hili Al Rayhaan Hotel, in Al Hili District , Al Ain. The hotel’s website is at:- https://www.rotana.com/…/unitedar…/alain/hilirayhaanbyrotana

We are delighted to welcome Angelina Lynne to Al Ain as one of the performers on the bill for the AAMF’s inaugural “International Jazz Evening”!

Canadian soprano Angelina Lynne is a versatile singer, musician, and teacher. She enjoys singing many genres including classical art song, opera, musical theater, and jazz and has performed internationally in various recitals and festivals including the Barcelona Festival of Song in Spain.

While residing in the UAE she has had the opportunity to perform with various artists in Al Ain, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah. Ms. Lynne holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance degree from the University of Auckland in New Zealand and a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University in Canada. Her principal teachers have included Helen Pridmore, Peter Groom, and Patricia Wright.

Ms. Lynne has been the recipient of several awards including an ArtsNB grant, the Don Wright Scholarship in Music Education, the First Prize in Division VI at the Atlantic NATS Singing Competition, and the Universitas Summer Research Award.

At present, Ms. Lynne lives and works in Sharjah where she is on the music faculty at the American University of Sharjah. Her passion for teaching music has taken her to Belgium, Paris, Egypt and New Zealand where she has taught in various forms and to all ages.

Angelina is teaming up with Dan Turcanu, Director of the Al Ain Chamber Orchestra, for her set on Friday, 27th November at the Hili Al Rayhaan by Rotana Hotel.
